Program Description

Cross-examination can be physically, mentally, and emotionally draining, and it can also be engaging and sometimes fun. The expert witness' demeanor and attitude is sometimes as important as the quality of his or her expert report. This webinar will focus not only on trial tactics and tips, but on the mental preparation of the expert.

Scott DeMarco, MBA, CBA, CVA, CDFA, CPVA
Mr. Scott DeMarco is a partner with BST's valuation, forensic and litigation support unit. He has been involved in the conduct of various valuation engagements, including the valuation of privately held business enterprises, professional and medical practices, intellectual property, professional licenses, advanced academic degrees, economic damage analysis, and real estate holding companies. Mr. DeMarco has testified as an expert witness at trial, and he also regularly participates as a financial neutral in collaborative law matters.

Mr. DeMarco is a Certified Business Appraiser accredited by the Institute of Business Appraisers, Certified Valuation Analyst accredited by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst accredited by the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, and Certified Patent Valuation Analyst.

Mr. DeMarco gained finance, accounting, and marketing experience growing and selling two software companies, AutoQuant Imaging, Inc. and Agora Games, Inc. He helped grow AutoQuant Imaging, Inc., and assisted in the sale of the majority of the company’s assets to a major player in the life science research industry. As chief financial officer at Agora Games, Inc., Mr. DeMarco helped profitably grow and prepare the company for sale to Major League Games.

He received his bachelor of science in finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and an MBA in information technology from the State University of New York at Albany.

Program Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: Previous training or research on subject matter being taught. Advanced Preparation: Attendees will likely need to understand the basic dynamics at trial, but do not need to have testifying experience.
